We normally have a short break in the Lake District in October but this year we decided to have a family holiday somewhere new and Brian suggested North Wales.
After an emergency visit to the dentist - Emily had developed an abcess on her wisdom tooth over the weekend and was in a lot of pain - we finally got away about 11.30 arriving at the cottage just after 2.00.
We didn't do a lot on the first day as it was pouring with rain but here's a photo of the cottage we stayed in.
The views over the Mawddach estuary and surrounding mountains were beautiful. Unfortunately the photos taken in poor weather don't do the views justice but they will give you an idea!

The conservatory at the back of the cottage was an ideal place to sit and read with such superb views
By an incredible coincidence the only moth I saw all holiday was this one - caught in a glass in the utility room and its a much better marked individual of a Green Brindled Crescent that I trapped for the first time in my moth trap at home last weekend!

Wow - great having a view such as that from your accommodation :D
is that a scope? :)
The views were superb - wouldn't mind living there :D
Yes, Pete. I took ours along - rather foolishly I was optimistic we might do some birdwatching :D Instead it was used only to look at Jupiter and the Milky Way!
