Despite the mild overnight temperatures (it was still 22.4 degrees centigrade at 7.0 p.m. when I set up the trap with a minimum temperature recorded of 11.8 degrees centigrade) the number of moths attracted to the trap was fairly low.
However, I did trap one rather good moth which is new for the garden - a Rusty Dot Pearl. This species is a migrant micro moth from mainland Europe and its amazing to think of this tiny moth winging its way hundreds of miles over land and ocean.
Rusty Dot Pearl
Black Rustic - the midnight bluey/black and subtle markings of this moth make it one of my favourites
