Just about to set up the moth trap for tonight when I realised I hadn't posted last Friday's catch! So here it is:
Friday, 4th June 9.30 p.m. until dawn
Actinic 15w Skinner Light Trap
Minimum Temperature 12.5
Heart and Dart 12
Shuttle-shaped Dart 2
Small Magpie 1
Small Square Spot 1 (new for garden)
White Ermine 1
Common Marbled Carpet 1 (new for year)
Mottled Pug 1
The Flame 1 (new for garden)
Clouded Drab 1
The moths were very lively when I potted them Saturday morning and many escaped. Several unidentifiable pugs and a carpet far too worn to identify. No photos this time as none of them would pose for long enough!
Wren update
The female wren is still busy feeding young (I think they must be due to fledge very soon). Sadly, another one fell out of the nest and was found dead earlier this week.
Blue Tit update
Two young birds being fed by parents in garden today. Were they ours? Will never know but it would be nice to think so.
Woodie news
Saw a juvenile great spotted woodpecker being fed by the female gsw this morning. It was perched in a silver birch behind the pond.
