Just got back from a week's family holiday on the Isle of Wight. Had a great time with super weather. No internet access while we were away but I will update the blog when I've sorted through the huge amount of photos I've taken and selected some of the better ones.
Wildlife highlights included badger and barn owl sightings but sadly didn't manage to see any red squirrels or water voles (again!!). At long last found a fossil on Compton Beach and thank goodness churches are all open on the Island - no locked doors there!

nice one on the badger and barn owl!
the open door policy is nice on the IOW
Am really rather thrilled with the badger sighting as, although the rest of the family managed to see one last year I missed out and this was my first sighting of a live badger in the wild.
The open door policy on IOW was great - I suppose the difference may be due to location.
