E had a few days holiday last week so we pre-booked tickets for Packwood House Gardens on Wednesday. It was amazingly quiet! I am coming to the conclusion now is a good time to visit those popular NT houses and gardens!
The house is open some days but not when we visited. Some of the gardens, such as the kitchen garden, are closed and there is a one way system in place. Although as usual several thoughtless individuals were ignoring it especially round the lake! It must be over 18 months since I was last at Packwood.
The Walled Garden
You couldn't walk along the raised terrace.
Very worrying considering it was a warm, sunny day was the complete absence of butterflies and later round the lake damsel and dragonflies. There were bees about but not as many as you would expect.
The Yew Garden which supposedly represents the Sermon on the Mount.
The orchards were full of buttercups.
Walk around the lake
I loved these dancing hares on sale.
It was a lovely walk round with E and I won't leave it so long before visiting again. Perhaps a trip to Baddesley Clinton next?
Photos taken by me with the Panasonic Lumix FZ330 bridge camera.

What a gorgeous visit to Packwood. The gardens look glorious indeed. As always someone is above the guidelines and goes the wrong way around though. I am noticing a decline in numbers of bees and butterflies, and in the variety too.
I also love those hares. I have just the spot in the garden for them. Rather splendid wyvern too. Hope you continue to be able to book days out, even outdoors is better, maybe even preferable to inside.
Lovely photos. It is a long time since I last visited Packwood House.
Super photos, everything is looking wonderful at the moment. I know what you mean about some folks not following the one way system also annoying is that they won't drop into single file on narrow stretches either. It's automatic for us to do that to give space to others but it isn't usually reciprocated. We walked at Trentham yesterday and never saw a butterfly and only one damsel fly. It is quite worrying. Glad you had a lovely walk:)
Rustic Pumpkin Thanks so much. There were at least two couples and one young family who went the wrong way round the lake!! It is so worrying about insect decline.
I didn't dare look to see how much the hares were!! Outside definitely preferable to inside!!
CherryPie - Thank you. Hope you can revisit soon.
Rosie - Thanks so much. Yes those refusing to drop into single file are even worse. We experienced it several times yesterday :( That is worrying too about lack of butterfly and damselfly atTrentham. Many seem to be noticing it.
What a splendid garden to visit! The house looks really interesting too and I just love all those rustic old doors! I love walled gardens too and especially these wonderfully tended gardens that you can enjoy without doing any of the hard work yourself!! lol :-)
Millymollymandy - Thanks so much!! Packwood is rather lovely both house and garden!! The walled garden is good and so is walled kitchen garden (sadly closed atm). lol re: all the hard work :)
