Herefordshire - 2nd June Visit - Part 3: Tenbury Wells

On the Friday D wanted to go into Tenbury Wells to look for a small present for E who had been watering his plants and vegetables at home.

I parked in Tesco car park first so we popped in there to buy a few items to justify parking there.

Then we walked along the high street browsing first in a gift shop where the items were somewhat pricey!

There is a little alley with a shop that sells antiques and second hand items so we went to have a look.

There were quite a few items with an owl theme!

In the end D found a rather lovely Staffordshire Pottery mug with blue and white flowers and with the words coffee on it which seemed an ideal gift.

We always go into Mr Thoms who sells sweets, chocolates, pies and cakes.  We bought  jars of marmalade and an apple chutney.

We called into the local Tourist Information Shop for a while. There was a super book on the history of Kyre Park but it was £12 and I couldn't really justify the cost.

We spent some time looking at the River Teme. Sadly no king fishers.

Saturday was very hot and so I went  to seek out a local church hoping it might be a cooler inside and I'll write about the visit to St Michael's in the next post.

All photos taken by me with the Panasonic Lumix FZ330 bridge camera. (I don't particularly rate my photos but if anyone wishes to use one of mine or my son's I would be grateful for an email first - thanks).

  1. Nice to see some independent shops still open and also to find your favourite and make purchases. Shame you didn't see a kingfisher on the riverside. I think it is going to be warm again later this week, look forward to more on the church:)

    1. Thanks Rosie. Tenbury and Leominster and Ludlow are good for independent shops. Not sure about Hereford not been round the shops there. Really we need to go to Hereford more - a lot to do there -museums, churches and I really want to revisit the Cathedral as my one and only visit we only had an hour due to parking limit of one hour! River Teme is usually good for Kingfishers. Yes I fear the heatwave is returning :( At least it has been cooler the last 2 days - thank goodness!
