We decided to stay local today as we wanted to get back for 3.00 to watch the England game so we set off for Blackgang Chine which is a fantasy park with something suitable for all ages and interests.
This year they have opened Blackgang The Disappearing Village which has a BBC Coast exhibition, the world of timber exhibition, a saw mill and displays of country trades and a very good aerial film of the Island called The Wight Experience.
There are also some lovely water gardens to visit as well as fantasy lands for young children, a haunted house and a few theme park type rides.
After the England game I went a walk along the coast path looking for butterflies.
Saw a speckled wood and my first meadow browns and large skippers of the year.

The green woodpecker was anting on the lawn again this evening and I also saw a grey partridge run across the top of the garden into the adjacent field.
At dusk we went a drive along the coast road looking for barn owls and were fortunate enough to spot one hunting only a few hundred yards from where we watched one last year. Watching this species is always a magical experience.
