After the rain

The rain managed to stop for half an hour yesterday and I managed to get out into the garden to take some photos of the foxgloves which are just coming into flower. I counted about 8 white-tailed bumble bees collecting nectar from the foxglove and beech flowers. If you look really closely you can just make out a bumble bee in the last photo below.









Meanwhile in the mini wild flower meadow, ribwort plaintain, buttercups, burnet, oxeye daisies and tufted vetch are starting to flower as the red campion fades.






I found a clump of herb robert in one of the raised beds.



I love the delicate flowers of the cranesbill geranium (photo below) - another plant which bees seem to like.
