Some of the books I have read recently.
If I am honest I didn't enjoy this new Rachel McLean story as much as the others in the series.
This is a charming little book - full of fascinating facts about oak trees. Reading it reminded me I have John Lewis-Stempel's book entitled The Oak Tree to read.
I loved this Wesley Peterson novel although I am sad to say I have now reached the end of the series. I hope there are more in the pipeline! I need to find new authors!
I am still enjoying working my way through the Cadfael series - there is something so charming about the books.
I haven't read a J R Ellis Yorkshire Murder Mystery for ages and I enjoyed this book. The identity of the murderer came as a surprise as I was convinced it was someone else!
I have finally bought a new Kindle Fire although I have only downloaded one book on it. It is totally different to my old Kindle Fire and not as easy to use! As I mentioned some time ago Amazon have withdrawn support for my old model which I was not happy about. You can still read books you have downloaded but not buy any more :( The new kindle is as similar to the old one as I could get although the screen is slightly larger. Fortunately, I still have a lot of books to read on my old kindle and I stocked up on quite a few while I could.
We have just returned from a week's holiday on the Isle of Wight so I will do some posts on places we have visited over the next few weeks.
All photos taken by me with the Panasonic FZ330 bridge camera. (I don't particularly rate my photos but if anyone wishes to use one of mine or my son's I would appreciate an email first - thanks).
Read the last one in your collection, I think I'm up to date with that series. Been reading more SiFi as well as the odd romance free of Prime. I read Turning of Our Bones by Ed James the other week, really good one, Also Bill Kitson Valley of Death another good series.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Billy. I will checkout the authors you mention so thank you for the recommendations.
DeleteLots of lovely reading. Good news, there is a new Wesley Peterson novel coming out, I have it on reserve at the library (number 5 in the queue). I too have a new Kindle it's just a basic one that will fit in my bag and I bought a pretty cover for it. Like you I downloaded a few books I wanted to the old one so I can still read on there but have now downloaded a couple of books on the new one. Look forward to hearing about your visit to the Isle of Wight, have a good weekend:)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Rosie. That is good news re a new Wesley Peterson novel!. In some ways I wish I had bought just a kindle - Kindle Fire has too many extra features which I never use these days. I have my laptop for that!! Have a good weekend too - looks like another heatwave which tbh is not to my liking!!!!
DeleteI've never read any of the Cadfael books but I think it's about time that I did.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my blog Anne and leaving a comment. I am enjoying the Cadfael series a lot.
