Blue Tit Nest Update

At some stage yesterday tea-time (between me leaving home at 5.00 p.m. for a theatre trip and Brian arriving home around 6.00 p.m.) the female blue tit laid the first egg! Unusual timing as I believe the eggs are usually laid first thing in the morning!. This morning another egg had been laid.
In 2010, when we acquired the nest box with camera, the first egg was laid on 28th April and last year the date was the same as this year i.e. the 25th. As to the theatre trip (David and I had gone to see the RSC's production of Twelfth Night at Stratford), once I had calmed down (traffic was horrendous and I had to drive to Stratford via a very circuitous route and we only took our seats with seconds to spare!), I enjoyed the performance. The scene where Malvolio dons yellow stockings and black garters was one of the funniest things I have ever seen! I've no idea how the layout of this post will turn out as some time after most other bloggers I have now been "lumbered" with the new Blogger interface and everything appears to have changed on the "Create New Post" setting! I've just looked at the Preview and my paragraphs have disappeared! Think I may try reverting back to the old set up if I can!

You can set up to the old blogger but they threaten us with the the notice "You will use the new blogger interface by next month". So I've coverted to the "new look" and I don't really like it....BUT the cool thing is that you can see how many times a post in its lifetime has been looked at....It looks great on this side of the world. Congrats to the new eggs....I look forward to the updates and chicks!

Chris - Many thanks. I've converted back and noticed that old blogger will be removed and we will have no choice!! I will use the old interface for today's post as I have lots of photos to upload and I can't face doing it twice if it goes wrong on new blogger but after today I may re-upgrade! Not sure about problem with paragraphs disappearing though as son has a blog and hit the same problem. So its not just me :)

Oh and we have 3 eggs now! - she will probably lay an egg a day until clutch is complete.

Toffeeapple - They don't seem to mess around once they start laying!

Excellent news on the Blue Tits, fingers crossed for a successful outcome! At least being in a nest box the wild weather shouldn't affect them as much as it might a nest in a tree.

So glad you reached the theatre in time, it sounds like. A good production!

I tried the new interface and then changed back to the old one too only to be met with the message about it being removed soon so reluctantly decided it was best to try and get used to the new one. Why they have to 'fix it if it ain't broke' I really don't know!

Hopefully the blue tits will be fine - I would be more worried if they were trying to feed young! Am concerned about the wren's nest as I have visions of all the rain soaking through the dried out compost. I did think about getting husband to put something on top of the basket to try and keep rain off but decided against it as I would feel awful if wren deserted.

I think I too will have to convert back to new blogger as you say it will go soon anyway and totally agree why change it?!

Sorry!! My comment should have said...It sounds like a good production.

The predictive grammar on iPad can be a little troublesome at times ;-)

Shy Songbird - Please don't worry -I hadn't noticed! Those predictive set ups are a nightmare - my daughter set such a system up for texts on my mobile and its dreadful!

Yes, it was a good production although probably not the best I have seen there but having said that panicking over getting there on time may have influenced my thoughts on the play!
